At GINA&AURA, we honour the journey from greenhouse to home, giving each plant time and care before it becomes part of your sanctuary.
Plants are grown in greenhouse conditions that can be very different from the light, humidity and environment inside your home. Rather than simply bringing them in and putting them up for sale, every plant goes through our signature acclimation and care process.
Once a plant arrives from our greenhouse or supplier, we carefully remove it from its original growing medium, inspect and clean the roots, and repot it in our signature handcrafted soil blend, individually curated to support the needs of each plant variety. The plant is then treated with our organic plant spray to help clean the foliage and address any unwanted pests that may have travelled with it.
From there, we give it something just as important: time.
Each plant is allowed to acclimate to an indoor environment while we closely observe how it responds to its new soil, light and surroundings. We monitor its overall health and growth, and only once we’re satisfied that the plant is healthy, established and adjusting well is it made available for purchase.
It’s our way of taking care of the transition before it becomes yours—so bringing home a beautiful plant feels a little simpler, more intentional and less stressful.
Carefully curated with a modern aesthetic in mind, each piece is designed to complement your home while bringing a refined sense of life, warmth and connection to nature into your space. Because your home deserves more green—and you deserve a space that grows with you.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR PHILODENDRON PAINTED LADY
The Philodendron Painted Lady may look like a work of art, but she’s surprisingly approachable once you understand what she likes. Give her plenty of bright, indirect light, let her soil dry between waterings and provide a little humidity, and she’ll reward you with beautiful new growth and foliage that continues to transform as it matures.
Each new leaf is part of the experience—often emerging in vibrant shades of yellow, lime and green before gradually deepening in colour and revealing its own unique pattern of variegation.
-
Painted Lady prefers indirect sunlight. Place her near a bright window where she can enjoy plenty of natural light without sitting in strong, direct sun for long periods.
Gentle early-morning or late-evening sun is generally fine, and filtered sunlight through a sheer curtain is ideal. Avoid prolonged, intense midday sun, which can stress or scorch her more delicate variegated foliage.
-
Painted Lady can tolerate medium light, but she’ll be happiest in bright, indirect light.
Brighter conditions encourage stronger growth and help support the beautiful colouring and variegation she’s known for. In medium light, she can still do well, but expect growth to be slower and the soil to take longer to dry.
A good rule to remember: the amount of light your plant receives influences how quickly it grows and how quickly it uses water.
-
Painted Lady likes a little breathing room between drinks.
Allow the soil to become mostly dry before watering again. In an average indoor environment, this may be around every two weeks, but watering should never be based on the calendar alone. Light, temperature, humidity, season and the size of the plant can all change how quickly the soil dries.
Expect to water more frequently in brighter, warmer conditions and less frequently during cooler or lower-light months.
Always check the soil before reaching for the watering can. Slightly drooping, softer or less perky foliage can also be your plant’s way of telling you she’s getting thirsty.
When in doubt, give her another day.
-
Painted Lady will do well in average household humidity, but as a tropical Philodendron, she’ll appreciate a little extra humidity when you can provide it.
A humidifier nearby can be especially helpful during dry winter months. While she appreciates humidity, good airflow is equally important, so there’s no need to keep her foliage constantly wet.
-
Philodendron Painted Lady is toxic if ingested and may cause adverse reactions in pets. If your pet has a habit of nibbling on houseplants, keep your Painted Lady somewhere safely out of reach.
