At GINA&AURA, we honour the journey from greenhouse to home, giving each plant time and care before it becomes part of your sanctuary.
Plants are grown in greenhouse conditions that can be very different from the light, humidity and environment inside your home. Rather than simply bringing them in and putting them up for sale, every plant goes through our signature acclimation and care process.
Once a plant arrives from our greenhouse or supplier, we carefully remove it from its original growing medium, inspect and clean the roots, and repot it in our signature handcrafted soil blend, individually curated to support the needs of each plant variety. The plant is then treated with our organic plant spray to help clean the foliage and address any unwanted pests that may have travelled with it.
From there, we give it something just as important: time.
Each plant is allowed to acclimate to an indoor environment while we closely observe how it responds to its new soil, light and surroundings. We monitor its overall health and growth, and only once we’re satisfied that the plant is healthy, established and adjusting well is it made available for purchase.
It’s our way of taking care of the transition before it becomes yours—so bringing home a beautiful plant feels a little simpler, more intentional and less stressful.
Carefully curated with a modern aesthetic in mind, each piece is designed to complement your home while bringing a refined sense of life, warmth and connection to nature into your space. Because your home deserves more green—and you deserve a space that grows with you.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR PHILODENDRON SILVER SWORD
With its cool-toned, silvery-blue foliage and sculptural climbing growth, the Philodendron Silver Sword looks a little high-maintenance—but thankfully, it isn’t. Give it soft light, thoughtful watering and something to climb as it matures, and this beauty will reward you with larger, more striking leaves over time.
-
Silver Sword prefers indirect sunlight and should be protected from prolonged, harsh direct sun, which can scorch its distinctive silvery foliage.
A space with plenty of bright, filtered natural light is ideal. Light softened through a sheer curtain works beautifully, while gentle early morning or late evening sun is generally fine.
-
Your Silver Sword can comfortably grow in medium light, but brighter indirect light will encourage faster, stronger growth and help it develop those beautiful elongated leaves it’s known for.
A spot somewhere between a bright window and the middle of a well-lit room can work well. Just remember that the amount of light your plant receives directly influences how quickly it grows.
As a natural climber, Silver Sword will also appreciate a moss pole, trellis or other support as it matures. Giving it something to climb can encourage larger, more developed foliage.
-
Allow approximately the top half of the soil to dry before watering again. Silver Sword enjoys some moisture around its roots but doesn’t want to sit in consistently wet soil.
Skip the strict watering schedule and check the soil instead. Light, temperature, humidity and the season will all influence how quickly your plant dries out. Expect to water a little more frequently during brighter, warmer months and less often in cooler or lower-light conditions.
When it’s ready, water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain.
When in doubt, check the soil first. Your plant doesn’t know what day of the week it is.
-
Silver Sword is fairly adaptable and can live happily in average household humidity, making it an easy addition to most indoor environments.
Being a tropical Philodendron, it will appreciate a little extra humidity if provided—especially during dry winter months—but there’s no need to turn your home into a greenhouse.
-
Philodendron Silver Sword is toxic if ingested and may cause irritation and other adverse reactions in pets. If your pet likes to investigate your plant collection with their mouth, keep this one safely out of reach.
