At GINA&AURA, we honour the journey from greenhouse to home, giving each plant time and care before it becomes part of your sanctuary.

Plants are grown in greenhouse conditions that can be very different from the light, humidity and environment inside your home. Rather than simply bringing them in and putting them up for sale, every plant goes through our signature acclimation and care process.

Once a plant arrives from our greenhouse or supplier, we carefully remove it from its original growing medium, inspect and clean the roots, and repot it in our signature handcrafted soil blend, individually curated to support the needs of each plant variety. The plant is then treated with our organic plant spray to help clean the foliage and address any unwanted pests that may have travelled with it.

From there, we give it something just as important: time.

Each plant is allowed to acclimate to an indoor environment while we closely observe how it responds to its new soil, light and surroundings. We monitor its overall health and growth, and only once we’re satisfied that the plant is healthy, established and adjusting well is it made available for purchase.

It’s our way of taking care of the transition before it becomes yours—so bringing home a beautiful plant feels a little simpler, more intentional and less stressful.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SANSEVIERIA TOUGH LADY

True to her name, the Sansevieria Tough Lady is resilient, adaptable and refreshingly unfussy. She can handle lower light, dry indoor air and the occasional forgotten watering, making her an excellent choice for beginners, busy plant parents or anyone looking for beautiful greenery without the high-maintenance relationship.

  • Tough Lady prefers indirect sunlight. Place her near a window where she can enjoy plenty of natural light without spending long periods in intense, direct sun.

    Gentle morning or filtered sunlight is generally fine, but prolonged harsh sunlight can stress or scorch the foliage.

  • One of the best things about Sansevierias is how adaptable they are. Tough Lady can tolerate low-light spaces, but tolerating and thriving aren’t quite the same thing.

    For stronger, healthier growth, give her medium to bright, indirect light whenever possible. In lower light, expect growth to be slower and the soil to take longer to dry—which means she’ll need watering even less frequently.

  • This is one plant that would rather be forgotten than over-loved.

    Allow the soil to dry completely before watering again. Sansevierias store moisture in their thick foliage and are naturally equipped to handle periods of dryness. Keeping the soil consistently damp is much more likely to cause problems than letting it stay dry for a little longer.

    Always check the soil before reaching for the watering can rather than watering on a schedule. During cooler or lower-light months, Tough Lady may go considerably longer between drinks.

    When in doubt, don’t water yet.

  • No humidifier necessary. Tough Lady is perfectly comfortable in normal to low household humidity and handles dry indoor air beautifully.

    This makes her especially well suited to everyday indoor environments and spaces where tropical, humidity-loving plants may require a little more attention.

  • Sansevieria Tough Lady is toxic if ingested and may cause adverse reactions in cats and dogs. If your pet has a habit of nibbling on houseplants, keep your Tough Lady somewhere safely out of reach.
